Using Your Personal Web Page

What is a Personal Web Page?  Do I have one?

Every registered participant and Virtual Rider in the Dempsey Challenge has one. A personal web page is automatically generated at the time of online registration.

To the outside world, your personal web page is a place where the following is displayed: your name, your message, and your invitation to others to contribute directly to your fundraising effort for The Dempsey Challenge via a secure online credit card donation.

For yourself, your web page is a handy fundraising tool. By logging in to the site you will be able to customize your message to the outside world. This can be done by uploading a picture of yourself, and a story about why you believe in fundraising for The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing and why you are part of The Dempsey Challenge. You can also format email messages about your fundraising efforts and send them to all your contacts.

How do I access it?

From The Dempsey Challenge homepage click on Login on the right-hand side. Enter the user name and password that you created when you registered, and you’re in!

Your primary page is titled “My HQ”. In your HQ there are many different options and tools at your disposal including options to edit your event registration profile, email friends and family, personalize your donation web page, enter offline donations as pledges, view your donation statistics, and much more!

For some quick step-by-step instructions on how to get started on personalizing your page look on the left-hand side of your HQ page for the text “New to your Headquarters?” then click on the link beneath it: “Start here!”

What if I can’t remember my username and/or password?

Not a problem. There is a link below the fields on the Login page which will give you instructions on how to reset your password.

How can others access my page?

Others can access your personal web page if you send them your personal web page link. This link is included at the end of every email you send from your HQ.  They can also find it by selecting Find a Participant on the right-hand side of the homepage and entering your first and/or last name.

What is the benefit of sending emails from My HQ?

All emails sent from your personal web page will have a link to your personal donation site attached at the end of the message. This makes it very simple for your email recipient to make a secure online credit card donation toward your fundraising effort.

You also have the added benefit of being able to save your email messages as templates to save yourself time as you send emails to targeted donor groups such as your local businesses, co-workers, or extended family members.

Sending emails is also made easy with the Address Book Import feature. Many of the most popular email account sites such as Gmail and Yahoo are accessible to upload all your email contacts. To upload your address book, click on the Email tab from My HQ. Then select Address Book Import at the top left-hand corner.

You can also very easily send thank you messages to individual or groups of donors. To do this, from My HQ click on the Reports tab. At the bottom of this page you will see a list of all your donor’s names and donation amounts. Simply check the box next to the donor’s name and then click the blue Send button at the top of the column; this will take you to a page to format your email.  This can also be saved as a template.

Also under the Email tab from your HQ you have the option to easily update your Facebook status and Twitter account. This is an easy way to tell people about the event and the cause, update your friends on your fundraising status, and/or ask for donations towards your fundraising goal. This is done easily by clicking on the Facebook or Twitter links at the top of your E-mail tab.

I do not wish to send emails via my personal web page, how do I find my web page link to send potential donors?

There are a couple ways to do this. If logged into My HQ you can find it by clicking on the Email tab – scroll down to the end of the page and click on Preview Email. At the end of the blank email you will find your link to cut and paste. To find your personal link without logging into My HQ, go to the homepage and click on Find a Participant, enter your name and you will be taken straight to your donation page. Copy the link from your web browser and paste it in messages to potential donors.

How does this site help me keep track of my fundraising?

Many different ways! How about your very own Donation Statistics page?! Inside your HQ is a detailed break down of all your fundraising efforts. This includes your totals of cash and check versus online credit card donations, as well as a list of all your donors’ names and amounts they donated. There is even an option to export donor names, amounts, and donation date directly to an Excel spreadsheet if so desired! To get to your Donation Statistics page click on the Reports tab from My HQ.

You may also keep up to date with your fundraising efforts by tracking your cash and check donations on your personal web page by entering them as pledges.  To enter pledges, click on the Tools tab from My HQ, then click the Enter Pledge button on the left-hand side.  After recording the donor’s information and donation amount, watch as the information shows up as a Pending Donation – getting you closer to your goal.  Fill in your Donation Worksheet, send to:  The Dempsey Challenge, c/o Development Office, 300 Main Street, Lewiston ME  04240 along with your cash and check donations. Once we receive the donations we will mark them as Confirmed and they will show up on your honor roll.
