Mile Markers

What’s a Mile Marker?

Mile Markers are poster-sized, hand made messages of love, hope and inspiration that will line the routes of The Dempsey Challenge run/walk and cycling events.

Filled with images of those who are living with and surviving cancer today, as well as those who have passed, the markers are an important reminder to all of what The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing is really about - showing our support for those whose lives have been touched by cancer.

Where are they placed?

You may choose to designate placement of your Mile Marker on either the run/walk routes on Saturday or the cycle routes on Sunday:

• 5K and 10K participants on Saturday will view Mile Markers along paths through Kennedy Park and Franklin Pasture.
• All riders on Sunday will see Mile Markers as they enter the homestretch – a few miles before the finish line, along the Little Androscoggin River.

What is the cost?

Mile Markers are another way to help raise funds for The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing, and a $75 donation is suggested per marker. Dempsey Challenge participants that raise $200 or more are also welcome to submit a Mile Marker at no additional cost.
