Nominations for the 2013 Amgen Breakaway from Cancer® Survivor Award will be accepted throughout August. The award is presented to a cancer survivor who has a passion for helping others with cancer.
“Amgen is proud to honor individuals who make a positive difference in the fight against cancer,” said Bob Azelby, vice president and general manager, Amgen Oncology. “Breakaway from Cancer was founded on the knowledge that it takes a team to overcome this disease and the individuals nominated for the Survivor Award exemplify this commitment to helping others”
The recipient will lead the Amgen Breakaway from Cancer Survivor Walk on Saturday, October 12 in Simard-PaynePark, and will also be honored at the Champions for Hope Celebration that same evening.
The criteria for nominees are as follows:
- Individual is a cancer survivor
- Individual demonstrates passion for helping others diagnosed with cancer
- Individual is actively involved in community outreach
- Individual inspires others by their demonstrated passion
- Individual lives and/or ‘helps others’ in the state of Maine
Past winners include Kristen Short (2012), Laura Davis (2011), Scott Thomas (2010) and co-winners Carlene Sperry and Allen P. Lariviere in 2009.
